Medical microdermabrasion

What is Medical microdermabrasion?
Medical Microdermabrasion is a Non Surgical method of rejuvenation by means of mechanical skin exfoliation without chemicals or laser.

The microdermabrasion technique used by the team at Stradbrook Skin is developed by DERMA GENESIS®. It is a powerful system, available only to medical professional, that can perform anything from mild exfoliation to deeper medical treatment for pigmentation and some types of acne scarring.

Microdermabrasion is a system of intense exfoliation and resurfacing using ultra fine crystals that rejuvenate the skin. The crystals work as a gentle abrasive on the skin to remove dead skin cells layer by layer. The irregular shape of the crystals helps to work on hard to reach areas, without causing any damage to the skin.

The vacuum action of the machine stimulates the circulation and promotes increased blood flow to the area. The production of collagen and elastin is stimulated, which results in a firmer, more youthful looking skin.

What is the difference between medical and standard microdermabrasion?
Standard microdermabrasion machines available in beauty salons remove approximately 1 micron of skin, whereas our DERMA GENESIS®. medical microdermabrasion machine removes 3 Microns - revealing newer, fresher skin. So 1 medical microdermabrasion with us at Stradbrook Skin is equivalent to 3 high street treatments.

Who is it suitable for?
It is an ideal treatment for young or old, male or female and for all skin types. There are very few contraindications to microdermabrasion.

What is it used to treat?
Microdermabrasion is commonly used to treat and diminish:

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Sun Damaged Skin
  • Acne Prone Skin
  • Blackheads and Whiteheads
  • Superficial Age Spots
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Oily Skin
  • Dry or Patchy Skin

How long does it take?
The microdermabrasion procedure takes approximately thirty minutes, depending upon the skin condition, the area to be treated, and the desired outcome. We normally recommend 10/14 days between treatments.

Why should I book a course?
Many will notice improvements in the texture and appearance of their skin immediately after the first treatment. The long-term benefits of multiple procedures can be remarkable. Stradbrook Skin can tailor a course of microdermabrasion combined with our Agera Rx Medical peels to suit your skin. Stradbrook Skin offers packages designed to target specific problems such as acne, pigmentation, melasma or just anti-aging.

Do I need maintenance after my course?
Yes. We do advise you to maintain your results with regular treatments. We recommend a short course of 2/3 treatments every 3 months.

What are the benefits?
Medical microdermabrasion is an effective skin rejuvenation procedure that requires no downtime, allowing patients to resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. The procedure is extremely popular because it is painless yet effective with minimal redness, swelling or irritation.

The DERMA GENESIS®. microdermabrasion system that we use at Stradbrook Skin, leads the world in providing the most effective treatments
